Sorry, but without cheating, there is simply no fast and easy way to get to the centre of the galaxy.
no but it is easer if you ally with the grox..... the the other species in the galaxy will hate you but if you offer them a peace offering then you will get a plus i did it and went to every plant i had a war with and gained a ton of ally's this way.k

Ally with the Grox, that way they don't attack you and you can use thier planets to recharge and repair. It comes at a cost though because most other races will hate you for allying with them.

there is a wormhole near the Sol system that transports you to near the centre of the galaxy but its not really useful if you are on the wrong arm
